In January 2025, Dr. Angeli Jayme will join Arizona State University as an Assistant Professor in the
School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. Her research interests include tire-pavement interaction, asphalt materials, pavement structural mechanics, damage quantification, pavement rehabilitation and preservation, energy harvesting, and advanced mobility. A common thread in her research is understanding pavement behavior and its inherent role to balance user and environmental demands, address the emergence of new technologies, and uphold high levels of safety and reliability. She holds a B.S. degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UIUC, all in civil engineering. Also, Dr. Jayme is one of the core planning members of the
Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track (I-ACT)—a future multi-stakeholder and transdisciplinary research arena. She also serves as vice-chair of the Highway Pavement Committee in the ASCE Transportation and Development Institute and as communications coordinator of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Pavement Structural Modeling and Evaluation
