About me
Nye has been involved in geotechnical and materials engineering for 20 years. He earned his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University and he is a registered professional engineer here in the State of Arizona. He currently serves as the Regional Materials Engineer for ADOT's Flagstaff Region. He also represents the State of Arizona as a board member for the Rocky Mountain Asphalt User Producer Group. Nye is a past recipient of this conference's Community Service Award. The focus of Nye's materials engineering efforts has been with regard to improving the performance of pavements and materials by ensuring adherence to the most basic of best practices, but also through working with both industry and academia to implement innovative materials and highway construction technologies. Some of such innovations in Arizona include Polymer Modified Asphalt, Silica Fume Concrete, Fiber Reinforced Asphalt, Intelligent Compaction, Trackless Tack, and Increased Density. Sustainable pavements, recycling, and implementation of Balanced, or "Performance Engineered Mix Designs" is where Nye is currently focusing his efforts. Outside of work, Nye enjoys all things outdoors with his family and friends but especially sports and downhill skiing. Nye is a husband, and father to two young boys who he also coaches in their local youth leagues, including West Flagstaff Little League, for which, Nye is the vice president.
